Variations Within a Series

Some of the cards come as "Red Tops." This means on the back the top line is in red instead of the usual black top line. Series 7 only comes in "Red Top." 

We know that blue backed (or cards with blue ink on the description side) are US and that (for the most part) black backed cards are Canadian.

			In the text, Roland Dumais is spelled with1 L and the distance between the black bars is 49 mm.
			In the text, Roland Dumais is spelled with1 L and the distance between the black bars is 47 mm.
	Animals of North America - US	On the text side there are 2 back color variations	Blue Back.
			Black Back. (Harder to find)
3	Wild Flowers of North America - Canadian	No Variations - Black Backed.
	Wild Flowers of North America - US	On the back side there are two shade variations. Some feel there are three.	Blue Back.
			Light Blue Back, almost a sky blue or teal. (Harder to find)
4	Birds of North America	Black backed for Canada and Blue backed for US.
5	Dinosaurs	Black backed for Canada and Blue backed for US.
	Dinosaurs - 1991 Lipton reissue (almost)	Black backed Canadian. Never issued but collectors have gotten a few sets somehow.   and Blue backed for US. Click here to see one.
6	Tropical Birds - Canadian	On the top of the text side, there is a variation. Another variation is that some of the cards are much thicker (and firmer) than others.	Black Top - Thick Card - This variation is significantly thicker than the standard card.
			Black Top - Standard Thickness - Number of card and series in black ink.
			Red Top - Standard Thickness - Number of card and series in red ink. (Harder to find)

7	African Animals	Only Canadian Black Backed Red Topped.
8	Butterflies of North America	Black backed for Canada and Blue backed for US.
9	Canadian / American Songbirds	Black backed for Canada and Blue backed for US.
10	Transportation Through the Ages	On the top of the text side, there is a variation.	Black Top - Number of card and series in black ink.
			Red Top - Number of card and series in red ink. (Harder to find)
11	Trees of North America	Only Black Backed.
12	The Space Age	Only Black Backed.
13	North American Wildlife In Danger	Only Black Backed.
14	Exploring the Oceans	Only Black Backed.
15	Animals and Their Young	At the bottom of the text	"Products"
			"Tea / Coffee" (harder to find)
16	The Arctic	Only Black Backed.
17	Indians of Canada	Only Black Backed.
